"I asked first." Which is the most petulant reply honestly and in no way indicates whether or not she is going to reciprocate. "I would like an annotated list, please."

There! She said please. She's serious about those notes, too. Being the daughter of two scientics, that's just in her blood.

"Mm, you said please." If Cassian sounds happy about that, just don't mind him. "Annotated, all right. You tried to escape, when we freed you from that transport. Most fools would've waited around to see who we were, first, and hoped for the best.

You're a damned troublemaker, which means I'll never be bored.

When you smile it looks like art. When you smirk it feels like I'm in on some cosmic joke that is finally in my favor. When you're upset I'm torn between trying to carry you out before you take a swing or trying to hit whatever is making you angry.

You can hold your own in a fight. You stole a blaster in a base full of Resistance fighters and no one caught you.

"I found it." She will take that protest to her grave, if only because there was no skill required like there would be in an actual theft so she genuinely doesn't consider it stealing. "It was on a table, I picked it up."

Her focus goes to that particular comment because if it doesn't she might die from the absolute flood of affection for all the rest of his reasons. He doesn't mention her inability to talk about her feelings or her nightmares or the fact that her temper can flare over absolutely nothing because sometimes she thinks about Bodhi and anger is easier to deal with than sadness. He doesn't mention either that she hogs the blankets always or has a tendency to come up behind him and palm his ass in public because she is a brat.

Although maybe he likes that one.

"And I'm not a troublemaker."

"Still." He's not sure he believes her 100% but he can accept it as possible. People are often idiots when they feel comfortable.

Jyn makes him comfortable but hopefully not enough to behave like an idiot, ever.

Also, he is totally into her inappropriate displays of public affection.

"You're the worst troublemaker I know."

[realists]

"You have terrible taste in troublemakers," she counters, even if it doesn't actually make any sense as a statement. Anything to avoid having to answer in kind.

[ouzel]

"I have delightful taste in troublemakers." Smiling, but there's something still in his eyes. "I do want to know why me, though. I'm not a good person."

[realists]

"I never asked for a good person. It wouldn't be fair to a good person. I wouldn't be fair to a good person."

Her shoulders lift in a shrug, not nearly as good at explaining herself as he is. Her eloquence does not apply to her own personal life or feelings. She can't give herself a rousing speech to sacrifice herself.

"You make me feel like I'm not alone. Everything else is just... more."

Cassian thinks maybe you deserve a good person but knows better than to say it. For one, it would imply doubt in their relationship, and he doesn't really doubt that they deserve each other. For another? She's probably right.

Jyn Erso is a bit of a handful.

"As long as I breathe, you are not alone, and I will fight to keep breathing, always."

A bit is a bit of an understatement.

His words bring a smile to her lips though, almost relieved. She ducks her head against his neck.

"I love you, too." And then she bites him. It's gentle, playful, a light press against the soft curve where his neck meets his shoulder, tongue licking a soothing stripe over immediately afterward.

[ouzel]

Cassian squirms a little beneath her, almost laughing at her bite, because of course she'd say that with teeth. Of course she would.

"While I appreciate the gentleness, I'm made of stronger stuff than that. Unless you're planning on softly teasing me to death, in which case, ignore that I said anything."

[realists]

"Have you recovered enough to be teased to death?" A slow question peppered with a series of kisses up his throat, across his jaw, a teasing curiosity giving her tone a playful quality that is about as rare as either of them sleeping through the night.

Her hips finally settle firmly against his with a slight swivel, breath hitching against his skin. She could tease him to death, but she wouldn't make it.

"I would like to think so," he murmurs, letting his eyes slide shut and committing these moments to memory. The feel of her lips against his skin, for one. "We could certainly find out."

He takes a sharp breath in, opening his eyes to look at her.

With some reluctance, Jyn pries her hand from his, but only to lift his hand and deposit it firmly against her hip. It can stay there now, she's decided. After a couple of seconds she nudges it down a little further. Yeah, that's better.

"Give a shot then?" So romantic, this one.

[ouzel]

Cassian does not, to his benefit, laugh at her decision on getting things started; he's quite happy to have a handful of ass, thank you very much, and pinches one cheek because he can and in order to make her twitch a little, if at all possible.

He leans up, ghosting breath against her cheek, her ear. Taking her earlobe between his teeth he runs his tongue along the soft curve before burying his face in the side of her neck. Cassian is pretty sure that his facial hair is going to leave a swath of red skin in his wake, and he's also pretty sure he likes that idea.

At the skin just above her collarbone he bites down, less gently than she had done to him, and sucking a small bruise into her skin. "Like this?"

She squirms and makes a face at him as if offended when she put his hand there in the first place, but then he's leaving a path of skin tickled pink by his stubble and she seems to stifle a gasp in defiant protest. She will not give in so easily!

But oh, she will, entire body softening against him in the worst betrayal she can think of. Her voice is worse, a shaky whisper. "Please."

Well. Please is not something he hears from her very often, so Cassian savors the sound as he works his way down her chest, leaving stubble burns and little bruises in his wake. It's easy to lean into her, to breathe the smell of her in and enjoy the taste of her skin, and the hand she didn't move ends up on the other side of her waist.

He drags fingernails down her thigh once his mouth reaches her nipple, rolling his tongue over sensitive skin. He watches her expression when he bites down, more gentle than he'd been with her skin.

She almost wriggles right out of her skin, cheeks flushed and eyes squeezed tightly shut like if she opens them this will all turn out to be a dream and she is not ready for that kind of disappointment. His nails scrape against her soft skin, rough tongue and gentle teeth again her breast and her eyes flash open with a gasp she cannot begin to keep at bay.

She swears in some language, in many, and digs her nails into his shoulder.

A chuckle starts somewhere in his chest at her reaction, but he keeps dragging his tongue over her nipple until it's hard and firm in his mouth. Then he moves towards the center of her chest, leaving kisses and little bites in his wake, before choosing the other nipple to torment for a while.

His hands have moved to the inside of her thighs, still leaving thin welts from his fingernails as he tries to encourage her to open her legs just a little wider.

Her fingers twist into his hair, tightening briefly in a way that she knows will be painful as if protesting his laughter, but she's also incredibly unwilling to tell him to stop. Breath as unsteady as her stuttering heartbeat.

She bends to his will with an enthusiasm that borders on eager, one that she'd be embarrassed by if he hadn't stripped her of that shame already.

Fortunately for her, or maybe for himself, Cassian doesn't mind a little pain; he hisses, sure, but continues using teeth and tongue to tease tender flesh - say that five times fast - until one nipple is just as hard as the other.

She's distracted by all the sensations but then suddenly all her senses converge on a single point, balanced on his fingertip like a torch setting her on fire while the rest of her melts like sugar bubbling into caramel.

"Fuck, Cassian." Her head falls heavily against his chest like she's praying, breath nothing more then helpless pants and puffs. She means to say something else, but it turns to a sigh after it passes her lips, deliciously undone by a touch.

"We will," he promises, because that is definitely the goal here, but in the meantime he wants to unwind her more than a little. Wants to watch her fall apart and then help her fall apart again. To that end his fingers continue, hips rising and falling in slight motion, creating friction and warmth between them.

Cassian kisses the top of her head and after a moment, his fingers slide back and in while the heel of his palm continues to rub against her.

She swears again, caught on a laugh that shades into another gasp of surprise. Her legs tremble, threatening to give way, but Jyn finds her voice again, her familiar stubbornness.

"Now." It's not plea or supplication, it's a downright demand, lifting her head to look at him as her hips press down to meet him. Perhaps the weeks of dancing around it made it too much for Jyn to bear, but she has passed every moment where she is capable of waiting any longer. Cassian seems quite capable of waiting and she refuses. "Now."

"Bossy," he counters, withdrawing his fingers from her and then. "I had plans." But it's just teasing, as it takes only a moment to do as she demands, hands now against her hips. He first thrust into her comes at the same time as a hand moves up to her cheek, watching her face, memorizing it.

He never wants to forget this.

The heat of her has him shuddering out a breath as he kisses her, gentle in contrast to the way his hips snap up in the next moment.

She almost sighs in disappointment as his fingers leave her, but then her bossiness is rewarded. Joy rises in Jyn's eyes, dark and heavy with desire, lips parted in a helpless, guileless happiness. His kiss is gentle bit hers are greedy and shameless, hungry for more of him, for all of him, hips rotating down as if to take in more and more like it's infinite.
